Our prayer for Japan
Dear Father —- God of heaven and earth and all things unfathomable,
We come to you this morning as a people who are awestruck by your presence and grateful for everything you have orchestrated since time began, and we want your will to be first and foremost in our lives. We also pray for your will to be wrought in the lives of our dear brothers and sisters in Japan. We mourn for them this morning, father. The plight left by the earthquakes and tsunamis have been catastrophic, God. Their pain and suffering, horrific. And the threat of nuclear disaster hovers over them like a black storm cloud.
Rescue them God! We pray that those who have already died will find eternal peace. Embrace the innocent children in your tender arms. Comfort those who are left behind in bereavement with the kind of peace only found by your holy spirit. Heal the wounded. Shelter the homeless. Rescue the abandoned and those struggling to survive. Remove the menace of nuclear radiation from the region.
Father, guide those in leadership to implement the right strategies to bring revival and restoration to this great country. May Christians from around the globe seize this opportunity to show the love of Jesus Christ without judgment like never before.
Lord, we believe you and you alone have the power and the authority to do all of these things that we ask. Lend your ear to the cries of Japan today, oh God. Show your mercy to our brothers and sisters there.
In the incomprehensible, wonderful name of Jesus Christ we pray,
Amen
