JASON: Roots (Part 3) - The Imperative of the Missoin
“Jesus said, “Go into all the world making disciples, baptizing them in the name of the Father, the Son, and the Holy Ghost.”
Last words are important. These are some of Jesus’ last words.
Jesus did not say, “Stay and build big buildings that are more of a monument to YOU than they are to me.” He did not say, “Stay and argue about the coolest way to reach the world.” He did not say, “Stay and study and become the best Christian possible before you do anything else.”
“Go!” That’s what he said. “Go!”
He said “Go!” because living life on this planet without him is hell on earth. He said “Go!” because hell on earth is nothing compared to the real hell of forever without him. He said “Go!” because a cosmic battle is afoot between light and darkness where the souls of real life people are at stake. He said “Go!” because he desperately wants his death to mean something to every person.
“Go!” That’s what he said. “Go!”
“Go to the world!” That’s a continuing (and almost impossible) imperative. It’s not “Go once.” It’s not “Go in your twenties.” It’s not “Go until the person you’re going to rejects you.” It is “Go until you reach them all. Brave hell and high water. Brave the threat of beating and whipping. Brave the shadow of lost reputation and abandonment.
So, are you going (right now)? Did you go (in the past)? Or have you not ever been?
“Go!” That’s what he said. “Go!”
